15 Tips for Upcoming Finals

Updated: Nov 28, 2018

1. Be sure to relax the day before the finals. This will boost your energy and help you focus.

2. Talk to your teachers about any topics that you have trouble with.

3. Study materials with your friends by testing each other. This will help boost your confidence and lower your stress level.

4. Take a good nap before the finals, for it will boost your performance with relaxation.

5. Review key subjects or key terms and make flashcards. Study in a way that best fits your style. Also, be sure to take short breaks in between.

6. Make study guides way before the finals even start. Be sure to not cram on the day of or the day before the test like a lot of people do. This will only make things harder on the day of the test.

7. Make space in your extracurricular activities for extra studying time.

8. Plan your studying schedule each day. You have an agenda for a reason!

9. Remember that finals are supposed to test your knowledge. It is a review of everything you learned in the 1st semester.

10. Make sure you manage your time well. For example, if you have a high grade in another class but have a lower grade in another, focus on the lower grade if you can afford to lose some percentage in the higher class.

11. Information is always available online. Use it! Tutorials from websites, such as Khan Academy, can greatly boost your understanding of a subject.

12. Be positive. Think that you’re going to ace the test. Don’t be negative. Who knows, thinking positive may boost your scores.

13. Study in a quiet place. Remove technology and other distractions from around you. When in a peaceful environment, you will be able to retain studied information much better. A good place would be your local library.

14. Make target goals. You might aim for a A or a B. Make sure your goals are realistic and will help your grade before the semester ends.

15. Have fun! Finals are what many kids have to go through at this time of the year. Have a positive mindset.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL ON YOUR FINALS!
