Everyone is looking forward to the movie Detective Pikachu, but have you ever stopped and wondered where the idea came from?

The Detective Pikachu movie is based off the Nintendo 3DS game Detective Pikachu. It’s a great game, with tough mysteries to solve and a plot with exciting twists.

The game starts off with the disappearance of Tim Goodman’s dad Harry Goodman, who was a detective on the case of solving why pokemon have been going haywire. The only trace of Harry is his caffeine-addicted partner Pikachu. Pikachu has lost all his memory after the accident (he and Harry were in a car when MewTwo shot a shadowball and they flipped into a ditch) so he can’t even use his thunderbolt powers like a normal Pikachu could. He only remembers Harry and his rivalry with MewTwo.

The movie version of Tim meeting Pikachu differs from the way they met in the game. In the game, Tim finds him on the streets of Ryme City and talks with him, however in the movie Pikachu breaks into Tim’s apartment.

Overall there are some differences, but the game and movie are tied together and worth watching.
