Flash Mob

On January 25th, teachers and students danced in a flash mob during lunch on the field. However, this wasn’t the first time the teachers put on the performance. During the LAUSD teacher strike, a different school posted a dance challenge on the internet, encouraging other teachers to perform in a flash mob. Before the lunch time flash mob on the 25th, Walter Reed teachers danced in front of the school during the strike.

“Originally [the first time] was just to… encourage the teachers to keep striking and be strong,” said Ms. Szymanski, the person who coordinated the event. “[The second time] was more of a ‘we’re all back together’... like a ‘go team!’ kind of thing.”

Ms. Szymanski also organizes the talent show here at Reed, so arranging both flash mobs wasn’t difficult at all. For Ms. Szymanski, the flash mob was easy and fun.
