First semester finals are here, and that means the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ isn’t going to come if you don’t study. Some teachers create finals to improve everyone’s grades, since obviously everyone studies super hard for finals so that they get an A. Getting an A is a lot of people’s goal during finals time. So how do you get that grade?
Make flashcards. Flashcards are great for a lot of subjects. They help people remember what vocabulary words mean in English. They help people remember problem-solving techniques for math. In history, most people need to memorize dates, battles, or geographic regions. And in science, memorization is key, as well as fully grasping the concept of what those words on your flashcards mean. How do you make flashcards useful?
Color-code them. In some areas of the four mandatory subjects, there are times when you have four or five different categories of words and concepts to remember. Color coding your flashcards is a very important thing to use as a memorization technique.
Draw pictures describing concepts. One of the most important things you learn in middle school is that visual learning is almost always important. Visual learning helps a person to grasp a concept and be able to have something tangible to remember it by.
Do not procrastinate. Procrastination is a very common trait in people because there are a lot of fun things that a person wants to do, but work is keeping them from doing it. How do you not procrastinate with that painfully long study time you need?
Alternate between assignments. If there is a very long assignment you need to do and a couple small assignments, do the long homework until it makes you bored and switch to a fresh new other homework from another class. When that becomes boring, you can just switch right back to the initial homework, and hopefully you’re not still bored with the subject by then.
Take 5 minute breaks every hour. Sometimes, it’s not the best thing to keep doing an assignment if it’s already boring you. So, the solution to that is to get some rest!
Eat a lot. Eating something can help distract you from the fact that what you are doing is not your favorite thing in the world. And if studying for finals is your favorite thing in the world, eating will make the experience a whole lot better! Perhaps trying some crackers or bread will help you.
Studying is the most important thing for your finals. If you study for finals, then you will surely understand a lot of the questions that are going to be on the test. That is why teachers might have supplied you with a list with the topics on the finals. Sitting in a chair, looking at your finals, and actually understanding the questions you’re answering is a sign that your studying really paid off.
