On Wednesday, October 17th, students in grades 6-8 of the Individualized Honors Program went on a field trip to the CA ScienCenter (CASC). We visited places like the Endeavor and the King Tut Exhibit, and asked questions about what we saw, and people were taken to places some of them have never seen before. Asking questions helps to find information that is not on the exhibit signs.
Learning from an oral presentation proves to be much more effective than reading signs. The Endeavor apparently has approximately 24,200 tiles on its surface. People had to replace some of them because the Endeavor went on 25 missions. After those missions, the Endeavor basically went into retirement and lived at CASC to be stared at by millions of tourists. Its engine is probably the coolest thing to look at because it has a ton of parts.
The King Tut exhibit was a dimly-lit place with a lot of real artifacts from King Tut’s tomb. There was also a video showing things in his skeleton and something in his head. There were many colorful bird-themed types of jewelry that were located everywhere in his tomb. This is a great place to learn about Egyptian history!
