National Hugging Day Is Here!

January 21, 2020, is National Hugging Day. This is something great to do to brighten up people’s days - and it is inexpensive and friendly. Hugging is a great exercise for making friends because it shows a sense of intimacy. Because this national day was created specifically for hugging, you can give a hug to anyone who looks like they need one. It is amazing how many friendships can be started with just a small hug, and it’s even better to give a bear hug to someone who is already your friend!

National Hugging Day was created in 1986 in the United States, but it is celebrated in other places around the world. It is a great chance for kids and adults alike to go up to people who they want to be friends with and hug them, because sometimes it’s better to be nice to each other than just ignore everyone all day. Though separation sometimes keeps the peace, it would be nice to make acquaintances. And by making National Hugging Day an important occasion in your own home, if you have siblings, you can hug them too! Also, even if it’s a great idea to hug people, you could hug a teddy bear before going to bed. You can even offer your pet a hug because that extra-special kindness makes them happy.

Don’t know how to hug someone or something? Here’s how:

Put one or both arms around the person or object you would like to hug.

Stay in that position for a period of two or more seconds.

See how easy it is to hug someone? Go give it a try!
